The New Zealand Society for Safety Engineering (NZSSE) is a Technical Group of Engineering New Zealand who promote Health & Safety by Design as one of the essential aspects of the life cycle of anything we create.
NZSSE Chair, Daniel Müller, will introduce the society and talk about safety engineering. The presentation will cover the Safety by Design spectrum from life-critical safety systems, to structures, buildings, processes, and substances. On the other end of the range, often overlooked, he will touch on household objects and everyday items. Examples will be given to illustrate the Safety by Design landscape. The NZSSE encourages designers to consider safety in the early stages of any project or process as the optimal place to improve overall health and safety outcomes. Engineers are in a pivotal role to make a difference.
